More Goole council homes to be fitted with solar panels – BBC

More than 300 more council homes in the Goole area are to be fitted with solar panels in a bid to cut tenants' energy bills and reduce carbon emissions.
As part of an investment programme by East Riding of Yorkshire Council during the 2026-27 financial year, solar panels, energy-efficient LED lighting and improved loft insulation will be installed.
Once the work is completed, around March 2027, more than 400 council homes in the town will have solar panels, almost a third of the council-owned properties in the area.
The solar panels will also allow tenants to use renewable electricity generated at their home, with surplus electricity able to be exported to the National Grid.
Michael Lee, council cabinet member for housing and infrastructure, said: "We're proud to invest in our council housing stock, to create warmer and more energy-efficient homes that help both tenants and the environment."
