Qualitas Energy has secured US$286 million in financing for a 259 MW renewable energy portfolio with 840 MWh of storage in Chile.
Qualitas Energy, a leading global investment and management platform with a dual focus on investment and development in renewable energy, energy transition, and sustainable infrastructure, has secured a US$286 million non-recourse financing package covering its entire Chilean portfolio under Qualitas Energy Fund V (QE V), comprising 259 MW of renewable energy generation capacity and 840 MWh of battery storage.
The portfolio financing encompasses eight assets across three renewable generation technologies: 66 MW of operational run-of-river hydroelectric assets; a 154 MWp solar photovoltaic (PV) project incorporating 840 MWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS); and 39 MW of onshore wind capacity.
The solar PV, BESS, and wind projects are currently under construction and are expected to achieve commercial operation in 2028. The portfolio is backed by long-term power purchase agreements with leading offtake companies, providing revenue visibility and supporting the financing structure. Together, these assets reinforce Qualitas Energy’s renewable energy platform in Chile, diversified across technologies and geographies.
The US$286 million green financing package includes senior non-recourse project financing, letters of credit, and a VAT facility. The financing was provided by BNP Paribas and Banco Santander, with BNP Paribas acting as Sole Structuring Bank, Global Co-ordinator, and Green Loan Co-ordinator, and Banco Santander as Administrative Agent, Joint Lead Arranger, and Joint Bookrunner.
Cristóbal Santa Cruz, Managing Partner, Co-Chief Investor Relations Officer, Strategy & Chile at Qualitas Energy, commented: “This transaction reflects Qualitas Energy’s ability to create value by integrating technologies and building diversified portfolios, capturing the portfolio benefit across hydroelectric, solar PV, BESS, and wind projects in a single financing. Supported by leading international banks, we continue to manage our assets throughout their lifecycle and to advance the energy transition in Chile.”
Qualitas Energy was advised by White & Case (New York) and Philippi Prietocarrizosa Ferrero DU & Uría (Chile). Milbank (New York) and SCLB Abogados (Chile) acted as legal advisers to the lenders.
