UK-headquartered investor Blackfinch Energy has signed a deal with energy supplier UrbanChain, which will acquire and redistribute electricity generated at two Welsh solar PV projects with a combined capacity of 14.99MWp.
The portfolio consists of the 6MW Llwyndyrus project and the 8.99MW Bryngolwg project. Under the terms of the agreement, UrbanChain will acquire power from the projects and distribute it to 24 Blackfinch sites across England, Scotland and Wales.
The supplier first started distributing power from the Llwyndyrus project in April 2026 under a two-year agreement, and will start supplying electricity from the Bryngolwg project in April 2027, as part of a five-year contract. The investor expects the total generation contracted across the deals to total around 59GWh.
“Our team are focused on making the most of our renewable energy assets while supporting the UK’s transition to a cleaner, more sustainable future,” said Sam Dickerson, Blackfinch senior commercial portfolio manager at Blackfinch, which now manages a UK-wide portfolio of 120MW of operational capacity.

“This partnership gives us an opportunity to optimise the value of the electricity we generate, while taking a more connected approach to managing energy supply across our wider portfolio,” added Dickerson.
As a supplier, UrbanChain will deliver electricity to 24 half-hourly import meters across nine electricity distribution regions in England, Scotland and Wales. Figures from Elexon published this week show that around 75% of British electricity meters now operate on a half-hourly timeframe, putting the company on track to transition 100% of meters to half-hourly periods by summer 2027.
Both the Llwyndyrus and Bryngolwg facilities are ground-mount projects, and follow a deal signed last year between UrbanChain and Solivus for the UK commercial solar sector.
“The work completed at Llwyndyrus gave us a strong foundation,” said UrbanChain senior PPA originator Tyler Gingell. “We have now been able to build on that with a relationship covering more generation, more sites and more of Blackfinch's energy needs.”
