Neoen has secured AUS$1.8 billion in debt financing to support renewable energy portfolio in Australia.
Neoen, one of the world’s leading renewable energy companies, has raised a new debt financing package of AUS$1.8 billion from a group of 13 lenders for a renewable energy portfolio of 5 assets. The 1.2 GW portfolio financed is comprised of two wind farms, two battery storage projects, and a solar farm.
The Australian and international lenders involved are: ANZ, Bank of America, Bank of China, Clean Energy Finance Corp., Export Development Canada, HSBC, ING, KfW IPEX, Mizuho, NAB, UOB, Société Générale, and Westpac.
The portfolio consists of a mix of operating assets and those under construction, as follows:
Hornsdale Power Reserve (150 MW/193.5 MWh) in South Australia.
Goyder South wind farm Stage 1A (209 MW) in South Australia.
Culcairn solar farm (440 MWp) in New South Wales.
Culcairn Battery (215 MW/963 MWh) in New South Wales.
Narrogin wind farm (179 MW) in Western Australia.
Including this new financing, Neoen has raised a total of over AUS$5 billion in debt financing since 2024, covering 4.7 GW of combined capacity distributed across 20 wind, solar, and storage assets in multiple Australian states.
Neoen is Australia’s largest renewable energy company, having contributed over 6 GW in wind, solar, and storage capacity to the country’s energy transition. With an extensive development pipeline and a multibillion-dollar forward investment plan, Neoen’s ambition is to reach 10 GW in Australia by 2030.
Jean-Christophe Cheylus, Neoen’s Regional CEO Australia Pacific, commented: “We are delighted to announce this new portfolio financing, and we extend our thanks to all our lenders for their trust and commitment. We value the continued support of our long-term partners, and we welcome the arrival of new lenders. This landmark transaction underlines the strength, depth, and growth of our portfolio in Australia.”
Xavier Barbaro, Neoen’s Group CEO, concluded: “I would like to congratulate the Neoen team on the completion of this portfolio financing in Australia, our largest financing to date. This transaction reflects the quality and diversity of our assets and demonstrates our ability to optimise our financing structure and strengthen our balance sheet. This, in turn, reinforces our capacity to invest in new projects and to consolidate Neoen’s position as the leading player in Australia’s energy transition.”
