PNE sells 250MW solar project in South Africa – reNEWS

PNE has completed the sale of a 250MW solar photovoltaic project in South Africa’s Free State province to a major South African independent power producer (IPP).
The German company said PNE South Africa will continue developing the project following the transaction and support the investor until financial close.
PNE added that the sale marks another success in the South African market, where it has an extensive pipeline of renewable energy projects.
As of June 2026, PNE’s project pipeline in South Africa comprised approximately 2GW of solar PV and 2.8GW of wind energy.
PNE chief operating officer Roland Stanze said the transaction demonstrates the company’s ability to develop and market attractive projects in international growth markets.
He added that PNE will remain involved in the project and contribute its expertise during the next stages of development.
The transaction also highlights PNE’s ability to realise value from its extensive project pipeline through sales at appropriate stages of development.
PNE has been active in renewable energy project development for more than 30 years, with activities spanning onshore wind, solar PV and battery storage solutions.
