Slovenian state-owned energy company Holding Slovenske Elektrarne (HSE) has administered a tender for a solar-plus-storage project.
Available tender details state the tender covers a 1.38 MW solar power plant to be tied to a 1.25 MW/5 MWh battery energy storage system.
The project will be built within the area of Kamnolom Zagorje, a closed municipal waste landfill located in the municipality of Zagorje ob Savi, central Slovenia. It forms part of HSE’s wider work in developing renewable energy projects in brownfield areas in Slovenia’s Zasavje region.
The chosen contractor will be responsible for the design, supply, assembly, testing and connection of the hybrid plant.
HSE announced securing a building permit for the project in late September. At the time, it said part of the funds for the project will be provided by the EU’s Just Transition Fund.
“As part of the project, measures to drain stormwater more efficiently and reduce its seepage into the body of the landfill will also be implemented to further contribute to the appropriate and sustainable management of the area,” HSE said. “The building permit is an important milestone on the path towards implementing the investment, which is planned for 2027.”
Prospective bidders can submit questions requesting additional information until November 10. The deadline for applications, which must be submitted electronically, is November 19.
Slovenia’s cumulative solar capacity stood at 1.57 GW by the end of last year after installing 146.5 MW in 2025.
