Tongwei introduces 500 W TNC 2.0 FULLX rooftop module for Australian market – pv magazine Australia

Tongwei Solar has introduced the 500 W configuration of TNC 2.0 FULLX G12R-48 for the Australian market. The new 48-cell module features a compact format of 1762 × 1134 × 30 mm, designed for rooftop applications where available space, installation conditions and aesthetic requirements can vary significantly.
Built on Tongwei’s TNC technology platform, the module delivers up to 500 W with an efficiency of 25.02%. Compared with a conventional 475 W TOPCon reference module, it provides 25 W more power per module, enabling higher installed capacity within the same roof area.
Field testing at Tongwei’s Yancheng Test Base demonstrated an average 3.3% gain in per-watt energy generation compared with the tested conventional BC reference modules (Figure 1). During low-light periods in the early morning and late afternoon, the generation gain reached up to 12.32% (Figure 2), highlighting the benefits of lower leakage current and enhanced low-light performance.

Beyond energy performance, the higher power output can also deliver additional financial benefits under Australia’s Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES).
Under the scheme, eligible rooftop solar installations can receive an upfront discount through Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs), with the number of certificates determined by system capacity, installation location and the applicable deeming period.
For a 14-module rooftop system, TNC 2.0 FULLX 500 W provides 7 kW of installed capacity, compared with 6.65 kW for conventional 475 W TOPCon modules. Based on a modelled STC value of AUD 40 per certificate and a five-year deeming period for installations in 2026, the additional 0.35 kW translates into approximately AUD 80–120 in extra upfront STC benefits across Australia’s four STC zones, subject to eligibility and prevailing certificate prices.
The higher installed capacity also offers the potential for greater lifetime electricity generation, further supporting the economic value of residential rooftop solar.
TNC 2.0 FULLX G12R-48 is designed to maintain strong energy performance across varying rooftop conditions. Its enhanced low-light response helps maximise electricity generation under changing irradiance, while its compact format supports installations with limited roof space or different roof orientations.
The module is available in full-black and black-frame designs, offering customers greater flexibility in rooftop aesthetics and system configuration.
With the introduction of its 500 W configuration at All Energy Australia 2026, Tongwei continues to expand its residential solar portfolio, combining high power density, energy-yield performance and practical value for Australian homeowners.
