China Solar PV News Snippets: Tibet Completes 100 MW PV + 500 MWh Storage Project & More – TaiyangNews

Tibet Development and Investment Group has completed construction and integrated system testing of a 100 MW PV project paired with a 100 MW/500 MWh energy storage system in Shigatse, Tibet, bringing it to grid-connection readiness. The company describes it as Tibet’s first and largest source-grid-load-storage integrated project designed for grid-connected operation.
The project comprises 100.595 MW of AC-side PV capacity, a five-hour 100 MW/500 MWh energy storage system (ESS), and a 220 kV step-up substation. The storage system uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries and grid-forming power conversion systems (PCS) across 50 units, each rated at 2 MW/10 MWh. The electricity generated will supply clean power to the Zhunuo Copper Mine. Average annual PV generation is expected to reach about 202 million kWh, with annual storage discharge of about 153 million kWh.
China International Marine Containers (Group) Co., Ltd. (CIMC) plans to establish a new-type energy storage industry fund through its wholly owned subsidiary CIMC Capital Holdings Co., Ltd., alongside a Shenzhen new-type energy storage industry equity fund, Yuanzhi Energy Storage Fund, and a subsidiary of Robestec Energy. The fund will have total committed capital of RMB 1 billion, with CIMC Capital Holdings committing RMB 298.83 million for a 29.88% stake. Initial paid-in capital will be at least RMB 100 million, and the fund will have an eight-year term.
The fund will focus on China’s electrochemical energy storage industry, covering upstream raw materials and advanced equipment, midstream battery manufacturing and power electronics, and downstream storage projects, smart operations, and resource recycling. At least 30% of its total paid-in capital will go to projects or companies that can generate synergies with CIMC’s energy storage businesses.
Guangdong has published the proposed results of its 2026 renewable energy mechanism price auction, selecting 58,962 distributed PV projects for a total of 7.935 billion kWh of electricity at RMB 0.3/kWh over 12 years. The projects will continue to participate in electricity market trading, with the mechanism covering the difference between the average market trading price and the agreed mechanism price through differential settlement.
The proposed price is 16.7% below Guangdong’s 2025 auction price of RMB 0.36/kWh, when PV projects were awarded a total mechanism electricity volume of 4.43 billion kWh.
Recently, Guangdong issued pricing rules for local renewable energy consumption projects (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
PV cell and module manufacturer DAS Solar plans to convert its 14 GW TOPCon cell production base in Xinzhou, Shanxi Province, to DBC technology, according to an environmental impact assessment submitted to local authorities. DBC is a back-contact technology developed from DAS Solar’s TOPCon platform.
The company intends to repurpose existing buildings and convert 26 TOPCon production lines into 24 DBC lines, retaining the site’s total capacity at 14 GW. The project requires an estimated investment of RMB 1.181 billion. It will involve retiring laser-assisted sintering and laser boron-doping selective-emitter equipment; upgrading LP automation, ALD passivation, and dual-track printing systems; and adding patterning and non-contact testing equipment.
DAS Solar is now a subsidiary of TCL Zhonghuan (TCL TZE), which announced in July that it plans to invest RMB 1.4 billion to convert 6 GW of TOPCon capacity in Quzhou and 14 GW in Xinzhou into a combined 20 GW of BC cell capacity (see China Solar PV News Snippets).
Tongwei has released a revised preliminary plan to acquire 100% of polysilicon manufacturer Lihao Clean Energy for an estimated total consideration of up to RMB 4.8 billion. Shares issued as part of the acquisition will be priced at RMB 9.12 each, down from the RMB 15.2 announced in March (see Tongwei Sets Share Price For Qinghai Lihao Clean Energy Acquisition).
Based on unaudited figures, Lihao Clean Energy had total assets of RMB 10.03 billion and net assets of RMB 4.49 billion as of September 2026. It reported revenue of RMB 1.62 billion and a net loss of RMB 676 million in the first three quarters of 2026, following net losses of RMB 738 million in 2024 and RMB 379 million in 2025.
Tongwei launched the acquisition process in February and plans to purchase the entire equity stake from Lihao Clean Energy’s 57 shareholders through a combination of share issuance and cash payment. It also plans to raise supporting funds separately. The transaction received antitrust clearance in September but remains subject to the completion of auditing and valuation, further board and shareholder approvals, review by the Shanghai Stock Exchange, and registration with the China Securities Regulatory Commission.
