The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is supporting Albania’s Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy (MIE) in preparing a 300 MW solar PV auction with co-located battery energy storage systems (BESS). Announced on 5 November 2026, the assignment falls under the Renewable Energy Market Accelerator (REMA) programme. EBRD will assess grid capacity, auction eligibility, storage regulations and market readiness for Contracts for Difference (CfDs). The Bank will also assist with auction documentation, project selection and financial close. Albania has previously completed four EBRD-supported renewable energy auctions, procuring over 800 MW. The upcoming auction contributes to Albania’s 2024–2027 reform agenda.
