Qair starts construction of Sicilian solar plant – reNEWS

Qair Group has started construction of its 24.2MWp Castellammare solar plant in Sicily, Italy, with commercial operations expected to begin in July 2027.
The company said the construction milestone follows the signing of an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract with SIREOS.
Qair added that it has also secured a financing agreement with Crédit Agricole Transitions & Energies for the project.
Castellammare forms part of Qair’s wider Italian portfolio, which includes 1.5GW of wind, solar and renewable hydrogen projects.
The portfolio also includes an advanced pipeline of 2.3GWh of battery energy storage system (BESS) projects aimed at addressing grid congestion challenges.
Qair said the development supports its efforts to turn Italy’s renewable energy potential into production capacity and contribute to the country’s energy sovereignty.
“Launching Castellammare is an important milestone in the execution of our strategy in Europe,” said Qair Group chief operating officer Charles Lhermitte.
“Italy is one of our key markets, and this project demonstrates our ability to deliver on our commitments.”
