RadianX, which previously operated under the name California Perovskite Technology, Inc., has disclosed $9 million in combined venture and project financing aimed at expanding output of its certified perovskite solar modules, according to a company press release dated Nov. 5, 2026. The Redwood City, California-based firm said the Seed round was co-led by SOSV and Twynam, with One Small Planet, Sahsen Ventures, Avila VC, California Innovation Fund, quantumEDGE, Riceberg Ventures and Alumni Ventures also taking part.
Separately from the equity financing, Pacific Union Technology Precision Manufacturing, a publicly listed maker of precision components, is teaming up to fund a dedicated production line meant to enable commercial-volume manufacturing of RadianX modules.
RadianX manufactures perovskite solar modules for edge energy applications spanning sensors, wearables, connected devices and Physical AI. According to the company, perovskite keeps producing meaningful power under low and indoor lighting conditions, a setting where conventional silicon grows less effective. For device makers, the firm said this can mean longer runtime, smaller batteries and, in many cases, no need for routine battery swaps.
The modules measure as little as 0.7mm in thickness, come in custom sizes and output voltages, and are engineered to fit directly onto the surfaces of existing products. RadianX said its initial emphasis will be on hardware, and it is already pairing its modules with device makers.
Josh Douglas, Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer, said most connected devices still rely on a battery that someone must replace, and that the company’s goal is to convert the light those devices already receive into power, boosting uptime and cutting or removing the battery.
The release noted three obstacles that have held back perovskite’s shift from research into commercial products: material degradation historically occurring well before a product’s useful life ends, efficiency that has not carried over from small cells to full-size modules, and safety questions linked to lead content. RadianX said it has resolved all three.
According to the company, its modules rank among the first perovskite modules certified by TÜV across all three categories of IEC TS 63163, the IEC specification covering photovoltaic modules for consumer products, including Category 3, which applies to products with high outdoor exposure. RadianX also reported certified efficiency results at cell, panel and full-module scale, among them 22.33% on a 1.2-by-0.6-meter module, which it called a world record for that format at the time. The release stated that the modules have passed lead-release testing under the EU’s REACH regulation and meet RoHS requirements.
Vivian Qu, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, said perovskite is a nanomaterial that does not rely on the silicon supply chain, is carbon-light, requires no rare materials and can be produced from start to finish within a single facility, which means it can be made nearly anywhere. She said the company’s first automated 6MW production line is meant to serve as a blueprint that can be reproduced at larger scale in other locations.
Tiger Yang, CEO of Pacific Union Technology Precision Manufacturing, said RadianX has shown leading performance and stability metrics across important categories and has validated that performance in customer hands, positioning the technology as a key enabler for perovskite applications across markets. He said the manufacturer is partnering with RadianX to combine its experience in delivering at scale with the company’s technology to expand capacity and meet immediate customer demand.
After the initial financing, Gary Chen, former CEO of Sunspark, a 250MW solar producer based in Riverside, California, joined RadianX as VP of Manufacturing and Product.
RadianX is taking part in the 2026 Amazon Devices Climate Tech Accelerator, run by Plug and Play. The company is also collaborating with NGK Corporation to combine RadianX modules with NGK’s EnerCera batteries in wireless asset trackers.
Po Bronson, General Partner at SOSV and Managing Director at SOSV SF, said perovskites have ranked among the hardest problems in solar because lab records have seldom held up as stable, manufacturable products. He said SOSV invested in RadianX out of conviction in both the technology and the team, which already has certified modules in customers’ hands.
RadianX said its ultra-thin perovskite photovoltaic modules harvest light from indoor, outdoor or diffuse sources and deliver up to 250 W/m² with minimal added mass. The company is based in Redwood City, California.
