Representing JinkoSolar, Sales Manager Esther Eyenobong engaged with media representatives, addressing key questions about solar energy accessibility for Nigerian households, the country’s local solar manufacturing ambitions, and JinkoSolar’s contributions to major renewable energy projects in Nigeria.
Making Solar Energy More Accessible to Nigerian Households
During the media engagement, journalists raised questions about how middle-income households in Nigeria could access solar products and whether instalment payment plans were available to make solar energy more affordable.
In response, Esther highlighted that one of the key challenges facing consumers is access to the right information. She explained that JinkoSolar works to connect interested customers with its authorised distributors and local financial institutions that offer solar financing and loan solutions.
She encouraged interested consumers to scan JinkoSolar’s QR code and obtain the company’s contact information, enabling the team to guide them towards suitable distributors and local financing partners.
By improving access to information and connecting customers with available financing options, JinkoSolar aims to help more Nigerian households explore the benefits of solar energy.
Supporting Nigeria’s Local Solar Manufacturing Development
Another important topic raised by the media was Nigeria’s ambition to become more self-sufficient in solar panel manufacturing, including questions about a potential ban on imported solar panels.
Esther clarified that there is currently no ban on the importation of solar panels in Nigeria. She also emphasised that JinkoSolar continuously evaluates opportunities to create greater local value through collaboration with its partners.
“Local value addition is very much part of our long-term thinking for this market. We will continue contributing to knowledge sharing and capacity building in Nigeria,” Esther noted.
Her response highlighted JinkoSolar’s commitment to supporting the development of Nigeria’s renewable energy ecosystem through local partnerships, industry knowledge and technical expertise.
Highlighting JinkoSolar’s Projects in Nigeria
When asked why major renewable energy projects are being implemented in other countries rather than Nigeria, Esther highlighted several notable projects already delivered in the Nigerian market.
These include:
These projects demonstrate the practical application of solar PV and energy storage solutions in Nigeria, supporting more reliable electricity supply for important public infrastructure.
By highlighting these local project references, Esther reinforced that Nigeria is already an important market for renewable energy deployment and that JinkoSolar is actively contributing to the country’s energy transition.
Strengthening Commitment to Africa’s Renewable Energy Future
JinkoSolar’s participation in the REFA 2026 Media Press Conference reflects its continued commitment as a Diamond Partner to supporting renewable energy development across Nigeria and the wider African market.
Through engagement with media, industry stakeholders and local partners, JinkoSolar aims to strengthen awareness of solar energy solutions, promote local collaboration and support greater access to clean and reliable electricity.
The main REFA 2026 forum will take place on 25–26 November 2026 at the Radisson Blu Anchorage Hotel in Lagos, bringing together investors, developers, utilities, regulators and policymakers to explore investment opportunities and accelerate Africa’s renewable energy development.
As the industry looks towards the next phase of growth, JinkoSolar remains committed to bringing innovative solar technologies, energy storage solutions and long-term partnerships to support Africa’s sustainable energy future.
