Turkiye’s Energy and Natural Resources Ministry has disclosed the outcome of the YEKA GES-2026 solar auction, granting 785 MW in total capacity spread over 11 projects. Nineteen companies submitted 44 applications for the round, and the selected bidders pledged roughly EUR37.9 million in contribution payments, VAT included.
Winning developers may sell power on the merchant market during the first 60 months of operation under the tender rules. After that period comes a 20-year power purchase arrangement at a fixed price of EUR0.0325 ($0.037) per kWh.
The auction is part of Turkiye’s Renewable Energy Resource Areas (YEKA) initiative, designed to speed up renewable buildout and draw private capital into the national power sector.
The award follows the July launch of the YEKA GES-2026 procurement round. The government had originally intended to distribute 900 MW over 14 solar projects, plus 1.5 GW of wind capacity. The solar schemes were spread across nine provinces, with capacities per project between 25 MW and 230 MW.
Under the YEKA GES-2024 tender in February 2025, Turkiye allocated 800 MW of solar capacity over six projects. That round drew 146 applications from 67 companies; winning projects ranged from 40 MW to 385 MW, with a final power price of $0.0325 per kWh.
A later solar auction in November 2025 drew 77 applications from 38 companies seeking 650 MW across eight projects. It featured the country’s first floating solar facility, a 35 MW plant planned at the Demirkopru hydropower reservoir in Manisa province.
Turkiye added about 4.7 GW of solar capacity in 2025, lifting cumulative installations to 24.8 GW by the end of the year, per transmission system operator TEIAS. The country aims for 120 GW of combined solar and wind capacity by 2035, backed by regular renewable tenders and ongoing investment in the power sector.
