(KNSI) — The St. Cloud Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating after a transformer caught fire inside a solar panel array Friday morning.
The St. Cloud Fire Department got a call just after 9:00 regarding a fire of unknown origin in the 24000 block of Franklin Road South. Crews arrived to find a transformer on fire within the solar array.
Firefighters secured the area and protected nearby solar panels. The fire was contained to the transformer.
Deputy Chief Tony Lorenz says no one was injured, and there is no ongoing threat of the fire spreading beyond the secured area.
