While rejecting the request for extension of projects with deadlines of Dec 2012 due to inadequate reasoning, the Gujarat Solar policy enters a new tariff phase for the period 2012-2013 for PV and 2012-2015 for Solar Thermal, interestingly rates for Solar Thermal are much higher than those for PV even though CSP is supposed to be a more efficient and cost effective technology.
The Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC) has decided to determine afresh the tariffs for solar projects to be commissioned after 28th January, 2012.
The control period for the proposed tariff is from 29th January, 2012 to 31st March, 2015.
The separate tariff determined and proposed by the Commission for (i) Solar PV MW based power projects (ii) Solar PV KW based rooftop power projects and (iii) solar thermal based power projects.
The final tariffs for solar projects are as under:
Solar Power Projects established with only new Plants and Machinery would be eligible for the benefit of the above tariffs
