Tata Power Commissions 1.4-Gigawatt Solar Farm Just Before Year End – CleanTechnica

Tata Power commissioned a 1.4-gigawatt (GW) solar power plant in Rajasthan, India, just before the end of the year.
The INR 54.9 billion ($611 million) project is actually the largest solar power plant Tata Power has ever built. Approximately 2.454 TWh of electricity are expected to be produced each year from the project.
The power project, the Bikaner Solar Power Project, was built by Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited for SJVN Ltd. It will provide electricity for Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, and Uttarakhand, but separately contracted. This is how the power capacity is split out:
Tata Power Company got more than one win out of this project, too. The Bikaner Solar Power Project uses 2.4 million bifacial modules that were produced by Tata Power Solar in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu.
“It also features precision ramming techniques and high-performance inverters engineered to operate efficiently under extreme heat,” Renewables Now reports. “The Bikaner Solar Power Project was developed under the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) Scheme — Phase II, Tranche III, of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India.”
All together, Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited now has 11.6 GW of combined renewable energy capacity installed.
