Stäubli, the global provider of industrial and mechatronic solutions, has announced a $10 million expansion of its manufacturing facility in Bangalore, strengthening its manufacturing footprint in India and supporting the country’s fast-growing solar photovoltaic (PV) industry. The investment reflects Stäubli’s continued focus on local production and its support for India’s manufacturing ambitions under the Make in India programme.
The expanded facility will feature new automated assembly lines and upgraded quality testing infrastructure for the production of MC4-Evo1 and MC4-Evo2 PV connectors. These connectors play a vital role in linking solar modules with inverters and other system components. With the added capacity, Stäubli will be better positioned to serve rising domestic demand while continuing to supply international markets.
“India plays a central role in our global manufacturing and growth plans,” said Gerald Vogt, Chief Executive Officer, Stäubli Group. “This investment enhances our ability to serve customers worldwide with dependable, high-performance PV connectors manufactured to stringent quality and sustainability standards.”
India’s solar installations continue to grow rapidly, increasing the need for reliable, locally produced components. The expanded Bangalore plant will enable higher output, shorter delivery timelines, and improved supply reliability for OEMs, EPC companies, and project owners across the solar value chain.
Gurupad Bhat, Managing Director, Stäubli Tec Systems India, said the expansion reinforces the company’s long-term commitment to the country’s renewable energy sector. “By expanding local manufacturing and engineering capabilities, we are strengthening the solar industry while creating skilled jobs and supporting industrial development,” he said.
The facility incorporates advanced automation, energy-efficient production systems, and operates as a zero-liquid-discharge plant in line with strict environmental norms. Increased capacity will also support faster application engineering and product development tailored to local market requirements, while maintaining global performance standards.
Stäubli currently supports customers across major Indian solar markets including Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Chennai, and Karnataka. The Bangalore plant will also serve as a key hub for global supply as renewable energy adoption accelerates worldwide. In addition, the expansion includes initiatives to develop local suppliers, further strengthening domestic manufacturing capabilities. Production at the expanded facility is scheduled to begin in January 2026.
