Rock band funding solar panel installation at Huntington Children’s Museum – wsaz.com

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Rock band My Morning Jacket in partnership with REVERB is helping pay for the Huntington Children’s Museum to install solar panels on their roof.
“This funding fills a critical gap to install 44 solar panels on the museum, unlocking long-term cost savings and strengthening day-to-day operations,” REVERB said.
The new system is projected to save more than $100,000 in electricity costs, according to REVERB.
The organization also said it will allow the museum to reinvest directly in exhibits, educational programming and access for underserved families, and offer resilience in the face of rolling blackouts or extreme weather.
“The solar installation also doubles as a hands-on learning opportunity, helping young visitors and families better understand renewable energy and environmental stewardship,” the organization said. “The funds donated by My Morning Jacket were the catalyst that moved the project forward — once support was confirmed, the museum’s board approved the installation to proceed. The museum is also exploring how to leverage this funding as a match to potentially double the size of the solar system.”
REVERB says the project came about through Solar Holler, a trusted local partner the organization worked with on solar deployment for the Healing Appalachia festival in Kentucky.
