Renvolt, a subsidiary of French renewables developer Voltalia, has signed a turnkey engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for a 124.2MW solar PV project in Ireland.
Signed with ESB, Ireland’s semi-state energy services company, the Wexford Hub project will be located in County Wexford, southeastern Ireland. Once operational, Renvolt will also conduct the operations and maintenance (O&M) of the PV plant.
Commercial operation for ESB’s Wexford Hub solar project is forecast for spring 2027, according to the energy services company.
This also marks the fourth collaboration – both for projects completed or under construction – between the two companies after ESB awarded Voltalia two EPC contracts in July 2025. The two projects are the Carriglong and the Clashwilliam, with a 43.7MW and 49.2MW capacity, respectively.
The company was also selected for a 108MW ESB and Bord na Móna project in 2023, located in County Kildare, and which began operations in November 2025. Overall, the company’s capacity under construction for third parties by Renvolt now exceeds 1GW.
Ireland: renewables provided 40% electricity in January
“This achievement confirms the relevance of our strategy in this dynamic market, where we have already built or commissioned several major projects. We will continue to invest and innovate to help our clients achieve their low-carbon ambitions, while consolidating Renvolt’s position in Europe,” said Robert Klein, CEO of Voltalia.
The solar PV industry in Ireland keeps growing, as proven by the fact that solar PV generated more electricity in the first seven months of 2025 than in the entirety of 2024. Construction of new projects such as the Wexford Hub will further accelerate the growth of solar PV in the country.
