Work is continuing on solar installation projects across Longview ISD as part of the $456.2 million bond package that district voters approved in 2024.
“Solar installation continues to move forward across Longview ISD campuses, with crews coordinating work carefully to maintain code compliance and maximize efficiency,” said Samuel Kington, the district’s chief of facilities and operations. “Several campuses, including East Texas Montessori Prep Academy and Judson STEAM Academy, are making strong progress on racking, module, and electrical installation. At other schools, fencing and electrical components are nearing completion, marking significant milestones in the overall project timeline.
“At the Education Support Center (administration building), permitting is now complete. Crews are scheduled to begin relocating the fire line very soon, followed by full solar installation.”
Schneider Electric is in charge of the project installing solar projects across 10 district facilities.
