ASE will take over the East Yorkshire Solar Farm from BOOM Power, which secured a development consent order (DCO) for the project in May 2025.
February 20, 2026
Solar developer and independent power producer (IPP) Ampyr Solar Europe (ASE) has announced acquisition of a 400MW solar power plant.
ASE will take over the East Yorkshire Solar Farm (EYSF) from BOOM Power, which secured a development consent order (DCO) for the project in May 2025. It is due to connect to the grid via a substation at Drax Power Station.
The solar power plant will be sited between the hamlet of Gribthorpe, the villages of Spaldington and Wressle and the town of Howden, and cover a total area of 1,445 hectares.
Buffer zones and screening vegetation will reduce visual impact, while existing hedgerows will be preserved. The development includes the creation of wildlife habitats, such as grassland and woodland zones, and a large area adjacent to the River Foulness has been included within the order limits to support overwintering bird species.
CEO of ASE, Tarun Agrawal, noted that EYSF is now the largest project in ASE’s “growing” portfolio of PV and battery energy storage system (BESS) assets.
BOOM Power secures second NSIP consent for Fenwick solar plant
Mark Hogan, founder of BOOM Power, which progressed the project up to this point, said the flagship power plant “reflects years of detailed development work, collaboration and engagement”.
He added that BOOM will continue to be “actively involved” with the project through construction and energisation, which is planned for 2029.
The news comes days after BOOM Power announced it had received a DCO for another solar nationally significant infrastructure project (NSIP), the 237.5MW Fenwick solar plant.
