Group Surya, the parent company of Surya International Enterprise Limited, has commissioned a new G12R solar module production line at its facility in Bhubaneswar, marking what the company says is the first manufacturing line in the state capable of producing G12R modules.
The fully automated production line has an annual manufacturing capacity of 500 MW and operates with a cycle time of about 20–25 seconds per module. The company said the facility is expected to expand to 1 GW within the next four to five months in response to rising demand in domestic and international markets.
The production line will manufacture modules ranging from 450 W to 735 W, catering to utility-scale, commercial, and residential solar installations. It is designed to support multiple technologies, including TOPCon, HJT, bifacial, half-cut and dual-glass module configurations.
According to the company, the facility is equipped with AI-based inspection systems integrated across the production process. These systems are expected to reduce defects by 97–98%, with the line targeting fewer than five defects per 10,000 modules.
Commenting on the development, Kamlesh Kumar Singh, Group Director at Group Surya, said the commissioning aligns with the company’s strategy to build globally competitive manufacturing capabilities. “This commissioning marks a significant step in our strategic roadmap to build globally competitive manufacturing capabilities. By investing in advanced technologies and expanding production capacity, we aim to enhance operational efficiency and create long-term value for both the country and Group Surya,” Singh said.
The G12R manufacturing line will operate under Iyro, Group Surya’s solar solutions brand focused on high-efficiency photovoltaic modules for domestic and export markets.
The company said the new line is part of its broader expansion strategy as it builds a portfolio of projects across green fuels, public-private partnership (PPP) initiatives, green hydrogen and green ammonia, alongside plans linked to a proposed initial public offering.
