Wells County Commissioners vote on solar farm proposal – WPTA | 21Alive | Fort Wayne, IN

BLUFFTON, Ind. (WPTA) – At the Wells County Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, commissioners voted on an amendment to the proposals for solar farms being built in Wells County.
Megan Dunham is a fifth-generation farmer who said she’s worried solar farms might contaminate her soil and produce enough heat to ruin her crops.
She said she’s not necessarily opposed to them, but she’d like to see them built in a location that doesn’t threaten her livelihood.
“Just look at Blackford County right now. Blackford County is, it’s not, it’s not good right now in Blackford County,” Dunham said. “They have lost, probably 80-85 percent, probably more than that, of their farmland.”
During the meeting, members voted to recommend changes to the proposal for the Area Plan Commission. To watch the Tuesday meeting, click here.
