EDGERTON, Wis. (WKOW) — Firefighters battled a 10-acre grass fire beneath solar panels at the North Rock Solar Farm on Monday.
Lakeside Fire & Rescue responded to the brush fire around 12:32 p.m. and found an active grass fire burning beneath the solar panels, Deputy Fire Chief Brandon Whitmore said.
Firefighters quickly worked to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading further, according to a press release. Windy conditions and the fire’s location prompted crews to call for backup.
Evansville Fire and Footville Fire responded with brush trucks and helped extinguish the flames.
Crews brought the fire under control and stayed on scene for about two hours to complete overhaul and ensure all hot spots were extinguished. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
