According to a new report, OCI TerraSus and SpaceX are reportedly engaging in talks regarding the supply of polysilicon. Both firms have yet to confirm these claims, which were made by a South Korean newsletter on 14th April 2026.
For starters, OCI TerraSus is a Malaysian unit of South Korea’s OCI Holdings that specialises in the production of high-purity solar-grade polysilicon. Polysilicon is used in the development of solar panels and semiconductor devices.

Being a firm that manufactures and operates satellites in orbit, SpaceX uses polysilicon in its development process. As it plans to move into the semiconductor business, SpaceX’s demand for polysilicon might increase.
New reports are now claiming that SpaceX is turning to OCI TerraSus to supply it with polysilicon. According to the report, both firms are looking to strike a multi-year supply contract and are currently in discussion regarding the terms of the agreement.
Neither OCI TerraSus nor SpaceX have confirmed or refuted this claim, so it is advisable to take it with a pinch of salt. Elon Musk, SpaceX CEO, is reportedly already in a solar panel manufacturing partnership with Chinese firms.
Is the space firm now turning to non-Chinese firms for the supply of materials for the development of its solar panels? At this point, the details are not clear, but more light might be shed on it over the course of the coming months.
