Astronergy began developing the project in 2023, and it obtained the commercial operation license in January this year. It is now preparing to start the construction and installation of a battery energy storage system (BESS) next to the solar park, with a planned operating power of 14.4 MW.
Astronergy is a Dutch subsidiary of China-based Chint Group, founded in 1984 and specializing in smart energy solutions, including the production of photovoltaic panels, cells, and modules.
Astronergy is also developing a 55 MW solar project in Romania
The Chinese-owned company is also preparing to build a 55 MW solar power plant through another Romanian subsidiary, GIBE Energy. The project, which Astronergy acquired from Italian developers in 2024, is located in Hunedoara county, according to a report by Profit.ro.
Astronergy has been present on the Romanian market for about 20 years and has built several photovoltaic parks, helped with loans from Chinese state-owned China Development Bank, the portal noted.
Five of these projects, with a combined installed capacity of nearly 31 MW, were sold to Austrian renewable energy company Enery in 2022.
Romania’s largest solar park was commissioned earlier this year by CWP Europe
The largest solar park in Romania, with a peak capacity of 173 MW, entered regular operation in February this year. The Studina project was developed by CWP Europe, which also plans to build an adjacent battery system.
In December 2025, Israel-based Nofar Energy began construction on the 282 MW Corbii Mari solar park in Romania, with plans to connect it to the grid during 2026.
