Indian solar EPC and module manufacturer Kosol Energie has completed a 142 MWp ground-mounted solar project for Coal India Ltd in Gujarat, the company said.  The project, located at Bhadramali village in Banaskantha district, was part of a previously stalled and re-tendered contract that Kosol took over and completed within nine months, navigating challenges such as land acquisition delays, legacy execution gaps and transmission right-of-way constraints.
The installation uses 610 Wp monocrystalline bifacial TOPCon modules and forms part of Coal India’s broader push to diversify into renewable energy as it seeks to reduce dependence on coal-based power.  Kosol said the modules incorporate POE–POE encapsulation technology to enhance durability and minimise degradation.
The design offers resistance to potential-induced degradation (PID), light-induced degradation (LID) and light- and elevated temperature-induced degradation (LeTID), supporting long-term performance over a projected lifespan of more than 30 years.  The project is expected to contribute to India’s renewable energy targets and reduce carbon emissions by an estimated 4.77 million tonnes over a 25-year period, according to the company.
Kosol said it deployed local manpower and construction equipment for the project, generating employment during the execution phase and creating potential long-term opportunities in operations, maintenance and site security.
The company has been expanding its footprint in the utility-scale segment, with ongoing projects including a 250 MW solar installation for NLC India Ltd in Tamil Nadu and a 145 MW project for Coal India.  Kosol said the completion of the Gujarat project underscores its ability to execute complex solar developments and supports India’s transition towards cleaner energy sources.
Speaking on the progress of the project, Kalpesh Kalthia, CMD of Kosol Energie, said, “Taking over and advancing a complex, partially completed project of this scale reflects our core strengths in execution, resilience, and technical expertise. At Kosol, we are committed to delivering projects that not only meet but exceed client expectations, even under challenging conditions. This project for Coal India Limited is a testament to our capability to drive large-scale renewable energy transformation while creating value for local communities and contributing to India’s sustainability goals.”
