MCA Issues Strike-Off Notice for Coal India’s Solar Subsidiary – PSU Connect

Coal India Limited has informed stock exchanges that the Registrar of Companies has proposed to strike off the name of CIL Solar PV Ltd., its wholly owned subsidiary, under Section 248(2) of the Companies Act, 2013.
The communication follows Public Notice No. STK-6/010648/2026 issued by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs on April 20, 2026.
 
As per the notice, the Registrar of Companies has initiated the process to remove the company’s name from official records. Any person or stakeholder objecting to the proposed strike-off may submit objections to the Ministry of Corporate Affairs within 30 days from the date of publication of the notice.
Coal India shared the update with both the Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange of India in compliance with listing regulations.
 
The proposed action falls under Section 248(2) of the Companies Act, 2013, which allows authorities to remove the name of a company that is no longer operational or does not carry out business activities.
