Polk County Board of Supervisors approves plan to put solar panels on jail – KCCI

Solar panels are officially coming to the Polk County Jail.
The Polk County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved an agreement with Ankeny-based 1 Source Solar.
This is phase two of the county’s plan to reduce the county’s carbon footprint by 50% by 2040. Panels were installed at the Polk County Administration building in 2024.
This project will cost nearly $1.9 million, according to county documents. Supervisors say it will save taxpayers money in the long run.
