French independent power producer (IPP) Qair has awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts to UK-based firm INTEC Energy Solutions for its 46.5MW Brecks solar farm.
The project is currently under construction near Retford in Nottinghamshire, and is Qair’s first solar project to reach this phase of development in the UK. INTEC will deliver EPC services, alongside operations and maintenance (O&M) work for two years, and has the option to extend the contract.
This project will significantly add to INTEC’s UK clean energy portfolio, which currently sits at 13MW of capacity. This is the first collaboration between INTEC and Qair, and the former said that this could facilitate a “long-term partnership” in the UK renewable energy market in the future.
“This collaboration marks the beginning of a strong partnership, and we look forward to working together on future projects while continuing to support the UK’s transition toward a more sustainable energy future,” said INTEC UK managing director Tom Darkey.

Qair first received planning permission for the Brecks project in September 2023, at which point the company announced it planned for the project to cover 54 hectares. The company has since focused its efforts on developing battery energy storage systems (BESS) in the UK, securing permission for a 49.9MW BESS last July and a 342MW battery project last October; both of these projects are to be built in Scotland.
