Gamuda gets contracts worth over RM3 bil to build solar plants in Australia – Gamuda Berhad

Kuala Lumpur (May 20): Gamuda Bhd (KL:GAMUDA) said on Wednesday that it has secured contracts worth over RM3 billion to build two solar power plants in Australia.
The Smoky Creek and Guthrie’s Gap solar power station projects, touted as the largest solar and battery hybrid developments currently under construction in Australia, could generate up to 720 megawatts of electricity and store as much as 2,400 megawatt-hours.
Both are expected to be completed in two and a half years, the company said in an exchange filing. The company’s wholly-owned Australian unit DT Infrastructure will also provide maintenance and operations for both assets upon completion of construction works.
The latest contract adds to Gamuda’s growing portfolio Down Under and comes on the heels of a contract earlier this month to build the 75-megawatt Jinbi Solar Farm in Western Australia’s Pilbara region.
Other renewable energy projects under Gamuda in Australia include Stage 1 of Marinus Link that will connect Tasmania and Victoria with undersea and underground cables and stations, Carmody’s Hill Wind Farm, the Goulburn River Solar Farm, and the Boulder Creek Wind Farm.
Gamuda currently has four gigawatts of renewable energy pipeline spanning large-scale solar, wind, hydro and battery storage projects across Malaysia and Australia.
