New Zealand-based Lightyears has started construction of the 13.5 MW Reefton Solar Farm on the country’s West Coast. The project spans approximately 20 hectares and is the company’s largest solar farm developed to date. JA Solar is supplying nearly 21,000 solar modules for the facility under the companies’ third collaboration. Lightyears currently owns and operates four solar farms, with Reefton becoming its fifth project under development. The company said it is also evaluating additional renewable energy opportunities across the West Coast region. Meridian Energy has signed a power purchase agreement to procure electricity generated by the solar farm.
