French independent power producer (IPP) Qair has secured debt financing for the 46.51 MWp Brecks Solar Farm in Nottinghamshire.
This is the IPP's first UK project to reach financial close, with construction expected to begin this month. Commercial operations are forecast to begin in the second quarter of 2027.
Engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor INTEC Energy will carry out the construction of the project as well as the operations and maintenance (O&M) work for two years.
The project secured a Contract for Difference (CfD) in the Allocated Round 7, which awarded contracts to a record 76 different developers, 20 of which secured more than 100MWp. Qair was among the companies securing over 100MW with nearly 190MW of solar PV capacity across four PV projects, securing CfD in the latest round.
Senior debt financing for the project was secured from German bank BayernLB.
Manuel Balseiro, head of delivery and finance at Qair UK, said: “As our first project to reach this stage, Brecks establishes a strong foundation for our expanding UK development pipeline and marks the first milestone in our long-term commitment to delivering renewable energy infrastructure that supports the UK’s transition to a cleaner, more secure energy system.”

Moreover, on top of building its first solar PV project in the UK, Qair has also made progress with its battery energy storage system (BESS) portfolio. Last year, the IPP secured planning permission for two BESS projects, both in Scotland: The 49.9MW Middleton Farm Energy Storage Facility in Aberdeenshire last July and the 342MW Red Moss BESS project in South Lanarkshire in October 2025.
Overall, the IPP has more than 5GW of solar PV, wind and BESS projects in its UK development pipeline.
