Centrica Activates 18 MW Solar Plant in Burton-on-Trent – Inspenet

Centrica, together with Push Power Ltd, commissioned a new 18 MW solar plant at Rolleston Park Farm, located in Burton-on-Trent, England. The facility is part of the company’s £4 billion investment plan to expand its renewable asset portfolio and accelerate the energy transition.
The solar park occupies approximately 70 acres and features over 29,000 solar panels. With its total capacity of 18 MW, the plant is already operational and is expected to generate approximately 17 MWh of green electricity per year, sufficient to supply around 6,200 homes.
Furthermore, the project strengthens Centrica’s presence in the UK solar market, where the company combines new construction with acquisitions of renewable assets and flexible generation systems.
According to Dave Kirwan, Managing Director of Centrica Power, the Rolleston solar park underscores the company’s commitment to clean, secure, and affordable energy. He also emphasized that the expansion of renewable assets supports net-zero emissions targets and generates stable returns for its investment plans.
The project also continues the collaboration between Centrica and Push Power Ltd, which had previously worked together on the Codford solar farm in Wiltshire, an 18 MW facility that began generating electricity in June 2023.
Andy Khan, Managing Director of Push Power Ltd, noted that Rolleston Park Farm was developed from its earliest stages by the company and represents a new phase in its expansion within the British solar sector.

Centrica has also recently incorporated other clean energy assets. These include a 16 MW solar plant together with a 3 MW battery storage facility in Dorset, with energy export scheduled for September 2026. The company also added a 13 MW solar plant in Wiltshire, operational since March 2015, capable of supplying electricity to approximately 3,200 homes each year.
