I am writing from Koshkonong Prairie with thanks for the excellent coverage of the expiration of the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship program in Sunday’s Wisconsin State Journal, “Conservation fund runs dry.“
I’m very concerned about the Hillside Prairie Bird Sanctuary, which is now threatened by Koshkonong Solar Energy Center’s second phase. The solar farm plans to apply to the Public Service Commission for additional acres that will surround the bird sanctuary and endanger the dozens of species of birds.
I fear the huge acreage of panels could form a heat dome surrounding the sanctuary. How many data centers will need the additional power? The town of Christiana cannot survive with an estimated 6,300 acres of prime soil taken out of production. The citizens here need protection.
