NHPC’s 300 MW Karnisar solar power plant in Bikaner, Rajasthan, has been inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi through virtual mode.
According to NHPC, the project has been built using around 775,000 solar modules manufactured with domestically produced solar PV cells. The company said the plant is expected to generate about 750 million kWh of electricity annually and help offset an estimated 640,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions every year.
Speaking on the occasion, PM Modi emphasized that renewable energy is the cornerstone of India’s energy security and sustainable future. He highlighted that Rajasthan is witnessing the development of world-class solar power infrastructure, reinforcing its position as a key contributor to the nation’s clean energy ambitions.
NHPC Ltd, a state-owned hydropower producer, is rapidly expanding its footprint in the renewable energy sector through hydro, solar and wind energy projects, contributing significantly towards the nation’s sustainable and green energy future.
