Kolkata-based Vikram Solar, a solar module manufacturer, has commissioned its new manufacturing plant at Gangaikondan, Tamil Nadu, with the plant’s first solar module now successfully manufactured. In a press release, Vikram Solar said it has commenced production of its 615–640 W Hypersol N-Type TOPCon G12R modules at the Tamil Nadu facility. The new module fills an important need in a market chasinmg TOPCon modules now, even thoiugh Vikram Solar faces the challenge of finding domestically made cells for sale outside the DCR market.
The firm had earlier shared its plans to set up a 27,000 sq. m manufacturing facility based on TOPCon technology, with plans for future upgrades to HJT. The facility produces modules across the M10, G12, and G12R formats. Moreover, the Vallam plant expands the company’s footprint in Tamil Nadu, where it already operates a facility in Oragadam and recently began work on another site in Gangaikondan.
The Hypersol N-Type TOPCon G12R modules, promise to deliver 615–640 Wp of rated power with module efficiencies of up to 23.69%. Over the coming years, the campus will progressively house module, cell, wafer, and ingot manufacturing, bringing the entire solar value chain under one roof.
Vikram Solar plans to establish 9 GW of solar cell manufacturing capacity by FY27, expand it by another 3 GW by FY28, and add 12 GW of wafer and ingot manufacturing capacity by FY29–30.
