Avaada Electro Make Its Debut In MNRE’s ALMM-II (Solar Cells) Photograph: (AI)
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has expanded the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-II (for solar cells) with the addition of new domestic solar cell manufacturing capacities, most notably marking the entry of Avaada Electro Ltd into India’s approved solar cell manufacturing ecosystem.
Under the latest revision issued on July 22, 2026, Avaada Electro secured enlistment for its 610 MW per annum solar cell manufacturing facility in Nagpur, Maharashtra, becoming one of the latest entrants to the country’s rapidly expanding domestic solar cell manufacturing base.
The company has been approved for manufacturing high-efficiency N-type TOPCon solar cells, including both half-cut and full-cell G12 configurations. The cells feature efficiency ranges of 24.50% to 26.30%, placing Avaada among the higher-efficiency domestic cell manufacturers enlisted under ALMM List-II.
Industry observers view Avaada’s inclusion as significant given the ongoing transition of the Indian solar industry toward N-type technologies, particularly TOPCon, which are increasingly becoming the preferred technology choice for utility-scale and commercial projects due to their higher efficiencies and improved performance characteristics.
Apart from Avaada’s entry, the latest revision also reflects a capacity addition by Fujiyama Power Systems Ltd, which received approval for an additional 1,077 MW of Mono PERC bifacial solar cell manufacturing capacity at its Greater Noida facility.
While Fujiyama’s inclusion represents an expansion of an existing manufacturer, the key development in the latest revision is the emergence of new cell manufacturing players entering the ALMM ecosystem, indicating continued investments in upstream solar manufacturing.
The additions come amid growing domestic demand for locally manufactured solar cells following the implementation of ALMM List-II and increasing emphasis on domestic sourcing under various government programmes and utility procurements.
The entry of companies such as Avaada into the approved list is expected to further deepen India’s domestic solar supply chain and support the government’s objective of reducing reliance on imported solar cells while building a globally competitive manufacturing base.
