HAYSVILLE, Kan. (KWCH) – The city of Haysville is looking to the sun to cut its energy costs.
During a recent city council meeting, city leaders discussed the option of adding solar panels to the roofs of Haysville City Hall, along with the police department and the city’s activity center.
The project is estimated to cost around $630,000. The city had originally thought of taking this action in 2020, but at the time, it was considered too expensive.
Now, the city is hoping to use a new federal tax credit to help cover the cost. Haysville’s school district has a similar program and reported that the savings to the district have been higher than expected.
The city plans to make a decision on the project in September.
