Sigma Renewables, Scale Microgrids and Black Bear Energy have energized a new 2.8 MWdc rooftop solar project at LBA Logistics’ facility in Covington Township, Pennsylvania, adding local generation capacity to a grid facing rising demand.
The project was developed under Pennsylvania’s Virtual Net Metering Program and began operating in May 2026. It is expected to generate approximately 3.5 million kilowatt-hours annually. Sigma Renewables designed and developed the system, Scale Microgrids serves as long-term owner and operator, and Black Bear Energy acted as the host’s representative. The system reached full operation in less than two years after the initial contract was signed.
Research from Aurora Energy Research cited in the announcement found that mid-sized distributed solar projects like this one could save Pennsylvania residents close to $1 billion in electricity costs over the next decade, largely through reduced wholesale power costs and protection against natural gas price swings. The project adds to LBA Logistics’ onsite solar footprint, which now spans 39 MW across 18 assets in seven U.S. markets.
