RenewSys India has unveiled two new products for the solar module manufacturing industry— CONSERV EPE ACE anti-acid EVA encapsulant and PRESERV 300 TF USB Super Barrier four-layer backsheet.
The new products were launched during the second edition of Anusandhan – a PV Encapsulants & Backsheets Technology Conclave in Mayur Vihar, New Delhi.
Speaking at the launch, Avinash Hiranandani, Vice Chairman & Managing Director, RenewSys India, said the company’s new anti-acid EVA encapsulant offers better performance than conventional low-acid EVA while providing a cost-effective alternative to EPE encapsulants.
“We were among the early companies to manufacture EPE. Today, almost everybody who buys EPE in India buys it from us. It is now an established product, and customers are widely using our EPE,” Hiranandani said.
According to Hiranandani, the new encapsulant neutralizes the acetic acid generated inside PV modules, leaving only a minimal residue. Unlike EPE, which contains the more expensive polyolefin elastomer (POE), the new product uses only EVA while delivering comparable performance.
“Our anti-acid EVA is a much better product than low-acid EVA. It can also be used instead of EPE, helping module manufacturers reduce costs,” he said.
RenewSys’ Super Barrier backsheet features a four-layer construction instead of the conventional three-layer design. Hiranandani said the additional layer significantly improves the moisture vapor barrier, bringing its performance closer to that of glass.
“This makes it as close to glass as possible in terms of moisture protection,” he said, adding that customers using 3.2 mm glass for rooftop installations are already deploying the company’s transparent bifacial backsheet.
The conclave brought together leading solar module manufacturers, EPC companies, technology experts and industry stakeholders to exchange ideas on the latest developments in photovoltaic materials, module reliability and manufacturing technologies. It featured technical sessions on the impact of Bill of Materials (BOM) selection on module reliability, advances in encapsulant and backsheet technologies, and the material innovations driving the next generation of high-efficiency solar modules.
