POWERCHINA is a Beijing, China-headquartered engineering and infrastructure company, has announced that the Lusemfwa 27 MW/20 MWac solar PV project in Zambia was connected to the grid and began generating electricity. Located in Central Province, the project includes a 27 MW solar plant, a 33 kV/66 kV step-up substation and two 66 kV transmission lines of about 1 km. It operates alongside an existing hydropower station using a solar-priority, hydro-regulated model. The project reduced construction time per megawatt from 8 days to 5 days, shortening the overall construction schedule by nearly 30%.
