A vital energy upgrade has boosted Pyalong Recreation Reserve Hall’s capacity to support the community during emergencies and everyday activities.

The facility has recently been fitted with a new solar photovoltaic system, battery energy storage system and generator connection point.
As a designated Place of Last Resort and informal emergency relief centre, the hall can now continue operating during power outages, providing essential services including lighting, refrigeration, food preparation, hot water, communications and device charging.
The upgrade means the community is better prepared to face emergencies such as bushfires, floods and prolonged power outages.
But the benefits don’t stop at emergency readiness.
The hall serves as a community hub, hosting local sporting clubs, community groups and events throughout the year. Generating renewable energy on-site will reduce electricity costs, allowing the Committee of Management to reinvest savings into future improvements and community initiatives.
The project was delivered through a partnership between council, funding partners, contractors, the Committee of Management and local sporting clubs.
The Enhancing Pyalong Community Energy Resilience and Security Project is supported by the Victorian Government through the 100 Neighbourhood Batteries Program.
