Cranbrook hoping for solar panel installation grant – myeastkootenaynow.com

The City of Cranbrook is pursuing grant funding for a rooftop solar photovoltaic system on the city childcare facility currently under development.
Council approved a new capital project for the solar PV system valued at $250,000.
It is contingent on the city being able to secure $120,000 in grant funding.
City staff said they are a strong candidate for grant funding since it combines an energy-efficient building with on-site renewable energy.
The proposed 114 kWDC rooftop solar system is expected to generate about 136,565 kWh of electricity in its first year.
The project will only move forward if the city is successful in getting a grant.
Construction on the roughly 13,000 square feet childcare facility is underway.
