Rockfield Plaza Association has energized a 310-kW rooftop and carport solar installation at its mixed-use office complex in Lake Forest, Calif.
WattHub Renewables developed the project, SunRenu Solar served as the engineering, procurement and construction contractor, and Sunrock Distributed Generation financed it through a power purchase agreement. The agreement required no upfront investment from the property association and is expected to provide electricity at approximately 20% below prevailing Southern California Edison retail rates.
The system is forecast to generate approximately 502,000 kWh annually, offsetting the plaza’s annual electricity consumption. It also includes a solar parking canopy providing shaded parking for tenants, employees and visitors.
Project components include Longi modules with U.S.-manufactured cells, SolarEdge inverters and optimizers, and Unirac RM10 racking. According to the project team, domestic content exceeds 45%, potentially making the project eligible for an investment tax credit of up to 50%, subject to confirmation by tax counsel. The system has received permission to operate.
