City and campus partner on solar project – BG Falcon Media

The city of Bowling Green is looking for bright energy. On May 4, the city announced a partnership with Bowling Green State University approving a joint solar project.
The solar field is expected to be placed on acreage at the Wood County Regional Airport. BGSU Board of Trustees voted to enter the agreement with the city to lease the undeveloped land for a solar field.
The leased land is approximately 82 acres near campus and will feature 10-foot, anti-glare panels that rotate with the sun, providing energy to the airport according to BG Independent News.
Purchased land is located west of Interstate 75, off of East Poe Road and Newton Road. The university agreed to a 25-year lease with the city at $800 per acre. The solar field is expected to be completed by June 2027. The solar panels will be bought locally from First Solar.
