A U.K. homeowner shopping for solar through Costco appeared to find a strong offer, but after seeing the length of the warranty, they started to question whether it was such a good deal after all. 
The quote included rooftop solar, battery storage, backup capability, and even a Tesla upgrade option, but the five-year workmanship warranty made the homeowner pause. 
On Reddit, the homeowner described a £12,750 (about $17,200) Fresh Solar package built around a Fox ESS KH10 10-kilowatt inverter, an 11.52-kilowatt-hour Fox EP12 battery, and a backup gateway, with a choice between 20 Sunpower Maxeon 495-watt panels and 500-watt Eurener panels for a total of 10kwp.
Another version of the quote came in at £14,850 (about $20,100) with a Tesla Powerwall 3, but, for the homeowner, the bigger sticking point remained the installation warranty. At just five years, Fresh Solar’s workmanship warranty was only half the length of the 10-year warranty other installers were offering.
