Kinematics today announced the acquisition of Mesa, Arizona-based solar repowering solutions provider RenuTrak. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The strategic acquisition marks Kinematics’ expansion beyond new solar installations and actuation technology into full lifecycle services, with a specific focus on the growing solar tracker repowering market.
Headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, Kinematics supplies engineered motion control systems, sensors, software, and services for utility-scale solar, satellite, and industrial applications. Post-acquisition, RenuTrak will be integrated into Kinematics and operate under the Kinematics brand, backed by a dedicated Phoenix service center and expanded global support infrastructure.
As utility-scale solar tracker systems across the country continue to age, asset owners and independent power producers (IPPs) are increasingly turning to repowering solutions to resolve component failure and optimize long-term yields. Rather than replacing entire tracking structures, the combined entity will deliver targeted upgrades to critical components, controls, and legacy spare parts to extend asset life, improve energy output, and minimize total cost of ownership.
The transaction builds on an existing strategic partnership between the two companies. RenuTrak founder and CEO Josh Fraughton will join Kinematics and continue serving as the primary lead for repowering clients to ensure execution continuity.
“This acquisition represents an important step in advancing our mission to deliver high-quality solar tracker solutions at scale,” said John Payne, CEO of Kinematics. “RenuTrak brings strong expertise in the solar repower market and shares our commitment to quality and innovation. Together, we are better positioned to meet the evolving needs of the global solar industry.”
