Supreme Court Temporarily Lets Trump Continue White House Ballroom Construction – Межа. Новини України.

The project’s legal future remains uncertain as the justices weigh an unusual dispute over presidential authority, congressional approval, and construction already well underway.
As informed by CNN
The U.S. Supreme Court has temporarily allowed President Donald Trump to continue construction of a large ballroom at the White House. The decision halted the effect of a lower court ruling under which the work was to stop at midnight on Friday.
The order, issued late Friday afternoon, does not constitute a final ruling on the legality of the project. Earlier, two courts concluded that Trump was carrying out the construction unlawfully because Congress had not authorized it.
The justices decided to take additional time to consider Trump’s request. The president is seeking an indefinite stay of the court rulings that are preventing the ballroom’s construction from continuing.
The temporary order allows the work to continue while the Supreme Court determines the project’s future and evaluates the parties’ arguments.
A filing by the Trump administration with the Supreme Court states that work at the site is proceeding intensively. The construction site employs 250 workers, who are working 20 hours a day, seven days a week.
The government estimates that the ballroom complex is 65% complete. Thanks to the Supreme Court’s temporary decision, construction may continue until the justices issue a final ruling in the case.
