Serbia’s state power utility Elektroprivreda Srbije (EPS) has published a public call to companies and investors that are looking to sell or jointly develop renewable energy projects.
Available details split the call for projects into two categories. The first covers solar plants, wind farms and hybrid projects with an installed capacity of 50 MW or above that can be connected to Serbia’s transmission system. Battery storage is not mandatory but inclusion will count towards EPS’s evaluation of a project.
The utility says it will use a competitive procedure to select projects, giving priority to mature projects that already have grid connection.
The second category encompasses biomass, waste-to-energy and green hydrogen projects with a minimum capacity of 1 MW. The call for the second category begins with an expression of interest that will last 60 days, after which the utility will determine models for project development based on the interest received.
Serbia added 61 MW of solar during the first half of the year, taking cumulative capacity to around 379 MW. EPS’ first solar project was switched on in July 2025.
In May, updates to the country’s energy law pushed back connection studies for variable renewable energy sources until 2029 while introducing rules for customers looking to install batteries that will transfer excess energy back to the grid.
